Financial & Professional

Legal.

Find the clause before the deadline finds you.

Drema builds legal technology: contract intelligence, matter management, document automation and the search tooling that makes a firm's own history usable. Legal work is document work at volume, which is exactly where retrieval and extraction earn their keep.

The problem

What this sector
actually deals with.

The firm has decades of precedent it cannot search. Contract review is billed by the hour because there is no faster way to find the unusual clause. Matter status lives in individual inboxes, and clients ask for updates nobody can answer quickly.

The starting point for most legal engagements
What we build

Systems this sector
keeps needing.

The parts of a legal platform that carry the weight. Not everything at once — we build the one that unblocks you first.

01

Contract intelligence

Clause extraction, obligation tracking and deviation flagging against a standard playbook.

02

Document automation

Template assembly with clause libraries and approval rules for non-standard terms.

03

Matter management

Status, deadlines, documents and time captured against a matter rather than a mailbox.

04

Precedent search

Retrieval across the firm's own archive with citations back to source.

05

Client portals

Controlled visibility of matter progress and documents.

Use cases

Where the work
pays for itself.

The problems legal teams bring us most often. If one of these is costing you money today, it is worth a conversation.

01

Contract review acceleration

Surfacing risky and non-standard clauses first so review time goes where it matters.

02

Obligation and renewal tracking

Never missing a notice period buried in a schedule.

03

Knowledge retrieval

Answering how the firm handled a similar issue, with the document attached.

04

Intake and conflict checks

Structured onboarding with automated conflict screening.

Constraints

What shapes a build
in this sector.

These are the things a generalist team discovers late and prices badly. We design around them from the first week.

  • Privilege and confidentiality boundaries between matters
  • Bar Council rules on advertising and client solicitation
  • Retention obligations for matter files
  • Human sign-off on any AI-assisted legal output
FAQ

Legal
questions.

Straight answers, including where we are not the right team.

Can AI replace lawyer review?

No, and we would not build it that way. AI narrows where to look — surfacing unusual clauses, extracting obligations, retrieving precedent — while the judgement and the sign-off stay with a qualified person. That is both the professional obligation and the honest capability boundary.

How do you stop one client's documents leaking into another matter?

Retrieval is filtered by matter and by the requesting user's permissions, so the system can never surface a document that person could not open directly. Privilege boundaries are enforced at the data layer, not by policy.

Can it work on our existing document archive?

Yes, and that is usually the point. We handle ingestion and indexing of existing files, including scanned documents that need OCR before they become searchable.

Does the AI cite its sources?

Always. Every answer links to the specific documents it drew on, because an uncited answer is unusable in legal work regardless of whether it happens to be right.
